Authentic Jiu-Jitsu. Real Results.
Learn to stay calm and solve problems under pressure — whether it's your very first class or your next competition. Come see what Ethos is about.
More than techniques
Ethos teaches jiu-jitsu as a system for solving problems under pressure — principles, position, and control — so you can adapt when things don't go to plan. On the mat and off it.
Authentic jiu-jitsu
Taught by a black belt who earned his rank training in Brazil — not a watered-down franchise curriculum.
Structured training
Fundamentals and all-levels classes that build on each other, with coaching tailored to your experience and goals.
Real results
Fitness, confidence, and genuine skill — beginners welcome, competitors sharpened. Roughly 550 calories an hour, too.

Tyler Schuckman
Tyler started training in 2009 at age 15. In 2019 he moved to Brazil to train full-time, earning his brown belt and then his black belt in 2021 under Claudney "Borracha" and the Tozi brothers. He earned his first-degree black belt in 2024 and still competes internationally.
His approach is personal: instruction is shaped around your experience, your body, and what you want out of jiu-jitsu — whether that's your first roll or a podium.

Before your first class
Do I need any experience?
None at all. Most people who walk in have never grappled before. Classes are built so beginners can start safely and learn the fundamentals from day one.
What should I wear and bring?
For your first class: comfortable athletic clothing (shorts without pockets and a t-shirt) and a water bottle. Once you're training regularly you'll want a gi (kimono) — we have loaner gis until you get your own.
Is there really a free week?
Yes. New students get a free week of training so you can find the classes that fit your schedule and see if Ethos is right for you. Walk in during class hours or reach out below.
What ages do you teach?
Kids classes are for ages 8–13, and adult classes are for ages 14 and up. Every experience level is welcome in the adult program.
What is Brazilian jiu-jitsu, exactly?
It's a grappling martial art focused on control and submissions — often compared to physical chess. It rewards intelligent technique and timing over size and strength, which is a big part of why it's so effective and so fun to learn.

You just need to show up
Just show up, be willing to learn, and give it a try. We'll take care of the rest — loaner gis included.
